GSMB chairman Dr. N.P Wijeyananda told the Colombo Gazette that the tremor was registered only in Sri Lanka and not neighboring India.“The tremor was registered in all three seismology stations in the country. We are now trying to identify the epic center of the latest tremor,” Dr. Wijeyananda said. The Disaster Management Center (DMC) said that the tremor was felt in Colombo and as far as Jaffna and Nuwera Eliya. (Colombo Gazette) Officials from the Ministry of Disaster Management, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, the National Building Research Organisation, the departments of Irrigation, Motor Traffic and Health, and University lecturers attended the meeting last week. The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) is already investigating the cause of the earth tremor felt on the island last weekend. The GSMB said that tremor was felt in almost the entire island registering between 3-3.5 on the Richter scale.
