DOT Warns Of Slick Roadways As Freezing Rain Moves In

first_imgAccording to the Department of Transportation the freezing rain/snow mix is expected to make for difficult driving conditions. Facebook0TwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the western Kenai Peninsula from 2 a.m. Tuesday through 9 a.m., though Kachemak Bay is expected to only see rain. Breck Hewitt, with DOT: “Roads are slick this morning with difficult conditions in many areas, while Kenai and Soldotna are staying dry so far, it’s freezing rain and snow flurries in every direction.”  A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads.center_img According to Hewitt the weather is expected to remain the same going into tomorrow: “The road conditions are likely to remain fair to difficult. Snow plows and ice removal equipment are out working to keep the highways as safe as possible, and we will address side roads as resources allow.” Slow down and use caution while driving.
