Hong Kong McDonalds Launches McWeddings

first_imgIt’s a day you’ll never forget–the wedding procession, the ring, the sound of the deep fryer bubbling in the background. Hong Kong McDonald’s this week kicked off the first formal McWedding, a concept that has caught the imagination of the fairly baffled world since it was first announced late last year. McDonald’s is pitching the concept as a more affordable alternative to traditionally pricey weddings. The “Warm and Sweet Wedding Package will run a happy couple HK$9999 ($1,283). That get you wedding gifts, invites (with the iconic golden arches), and decorations featuring Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar (who apparently has promised to play it cool will you recite your vows). Of course, buying a cake, a corsage, a backdrop, and renting a gown will all cost you extra. Shirley Change, the managing director of McDonald’s, thinks the whole thing is pretty romantic. “They date here, they grew their love here, so when they have this important day they want to come over here.” Two more weddings are confirmed for 2011, with 70 more pending.AdChoices广告last_img
