Sindhu first made headlines when she became the first Indian won to win an Olympics silver medal during the 2016 edition – a record that she aims to break in Tokyo next year.Sindhu was seeded 9th in the world before the Olympics 2016 but surprised everyone by reaching the final where she went down fighting 2119, 1221, 1521 to Spain’s Carolina Marin. This was months before she won her 1st Super Series title (China Open 2016). Sindhu said that in Tokyo, everyone will be expecting her to come hard and so it will be tough.”As far as we are concerned, we end up playing till April 2020. For me, I think the last time, nobody really bothered about Sindhu, she was kind of the surprise package for them. But this time everyone is going to be prepared for Sindhu. So it’s going to be tough and we just need to play doubly-hard,” said Gopichand when asked about Sindhu’s preparation for the Olympics 2020.Sindhu echoed her coach’s sentiments, adding that the competition will be tough as her longtime opponents Marin and Nozomi Okuhara will be vying for the coveted gold at the Olympics along with her.advertisement”Well, it’s not going to be easy as Gopi sir said. Before that, we also have the Olympics qualifications going on and at the same time, it’s very important to be ready and work hard because everybody is gonna mark since I’ve been a World Champion.
