Veteran’s Day Program to be held in Wellington and Belle Plaine Tuesday


first_imgby Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — One of the most attended events of the year in Wellington and Belle Plaine will occur Tuesday with the Veteran’s Day Program.In Wellington, the program will be held at 10 a.m. at the Wellington High School auditorium. The featured speaker will be Colonel Frank Korte, who was a Vietnam War Veteran in the U.S. Army.Belle Plaine will be hosting a Veteran’s Day program as well at 2 p.m. in the high school gym.The schedule for the Veteran’s Day program in Wellington is as follows:Welcome — Commander Jim Lockhart.Post Colors — Dan Lovell and David Carroll.Star Spangled Banner — Wellington High School band.Pledge of Allegiance — Commander Lockhart.Opening Prayer — Wayne White, Chaplain, American Legion.Proclamation — Mayor Roger Stallbaumer, Jr.On Veteran’s Day — Fifth grade students of Kennedy, Lincoln, Eisenhower, and Washington Elementary Schools.God Bless the U.S.A. — Wellington Middle School, seventh grade, Cindy Tracy, director.In Flanders Fields – Wellington High School Madrigals, Jessica Caldwell director.Introduction of Speaker — Jim Valentine – Vietnam War Veteran, Army.Speaker — Colonel Frank Korte, Vietnam War Veteran Army.Salute to America’s Finest – Wellington High School Band.Closing Prayer – Chaplain White.Dismissal – Commander Lockhart.Korte served in the Vietnam War from January to October, 1969 in southern Vietnam. He also had 26.5 years of military service which started in Oct. 26, 1963 when he enlisted.
