Photo credit: GIS NewsLeader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Ronald Green says his party could review its decision regarding boycotting parliament once pending court matters are settled.The UWP has been boycotting the country’s parliament following the December 2009 general elections in which the incumbent Dominica Labor Party received a resounding victory.“Up till now the party’s position has been very clear. That is to say we are not participating in Parliament because of the fraudulent election of December 18, 2009. We have some matters in court. These matters are expected to be settled soon. We will review our decision about participation when these matters are settled,” he said.He said the UWP felt that it is absolutely necessary to maintain their decision.“Given the threat to democracy, the movement towards dictatorship that we had to make a strong statement and the strongest statement that we could make is non participation in parliament,” he added.”Green said however the UWP will continue to engage the Dominican public to ensure democracy is kept alive in the country.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
